For many travelers, Japan is first experienced through its stations, hotels, and famous sights. At Haku, we invite you to discover something quieter: the feeling of everyday life in a Japanese home.
Haku is a simple, familiar Japanese house built by the owner’s grandfather. Rather than renovating away every trace of the original home, we chose to preserve the details that give it character: wooden pillars, distinctive old-fashioned mosaic tiles, and the warm atmosphere of Japan’s Showa era.
You will also find small pieces of Japanese culture throughout the house, including a kamidana, a small household Shinto altar traditionally kept in Japanese homes, and Japanese ceramics passed down and carefully displayed. These are not decorations added to create a theme. They are part of the life and history of the house.
The tatami rooms are thoroughly cared for and kept clean. Take off your shoes, feel the texture and gentle scent of the tatami, and stretch out on the floor. Reading, talking, or simply doing nothing while lying on tatami is one of the most relaxing ways to enjoy a Japanese home.
Haku combines this nostalgic atmosphere with the comfort needed for a restful stay. You can enjoy the craftsmanship and character preserved from the home the owner’s grandfather built, without giving up cleanliness or ease.
In the evening, enjoy a BBQ in the garden as the air cools and the surroundings grow quiet. BBQ equipment is available by advance request, with a separate preparation fee of ¥3,000 including tax. A slower moment can be just as memorable: pour yourself a cup of coffee, sit outside, and take in the sounds and scents of nature.
Shiraito Falls, one of the area’s most celebrated sights, is about a six-minute walk from Haku. We especially recommend an early-morning walk, when the paths are quieter and you can enjoy the fresh air and flowing water before most visitors arrive.

旅先で出会う日本は、駅やホテル、観光名所が中心かもしれません。Hakuでは、もう少し静かで身近な「日本の日常」を感じていただけます。
Hakuは、オーナーのおじいさまが建てた、日本のベーシックな一軒家です。すべてを新しく作り変えるのではなく、この家の個性となる昔ながらの柱や、味わいのあるモザイクタイルをあえて残し、昭和レトロの温かさを大切にしました。
館内には、日本の家庭で大切にされてきた神棚や、日本らしい陶器などもあります。宿の雰囲気づくりのために置いた装飾ではなく、おじいさまの代から受け継いだ、この家の暮らしと歴史の一部です。
畳のお部屋は、お手入れと清掃を丁寧に行っています。靴を脱ぎ、畳の感触とやさしい香りを感じながら、ごろんと寝転がってみてください。本を読んだり、おしゃべりをしたり、何もせずに過ごしたり。畳の上で身体を伸ばす時間は、日本の家ならではの心地よさです。
おじいさまが建てた家の面影を残しながら、滞在に必要な清潔さと快適さも整えています。受け継がれた日本の家で、安心してゆっくりとお過ごしください。
夜は、涼しい風を感じながら庭先でBBQを楽しむのもおすすめです。BBQ設備は事前申込み制で、準備料金は別途3,000円（税込）です。コーヒーを淹れて庭に腰掛け、自然の音や香りに包まれながら、何もしない時間をゆったり味わうのもHakuらしい過ごし方です。
観光名所の白糸の滝までは、Hakuから歩いて約6分。まだ訪れる人が少ない朝に散歩へ出かけ、澄んだ空気と水の音を感じながら歩くのもおすすめです。
